Fourteen days of Winter-Warmth (Dongwen), the body seems cool, but the pulse remains large and rapid in intent, yet powerless upon prolonged pressing; this indicates the pathogenic factor is receding. The tongue coating is slippery and moist, still gray in the center with yellow on both sides. The primary intention is to preserve Body Fluids (Jinye). This condition involves the pathogen moving through the meridians without being discharged via bowel movement, thus causing Liver Heat leading to palpitations, fright, and irritability. Decoction contains Baiwei (Cortex Dipteri), which can calm fright and cool blood; this formula is proposed for treatment.

If stool resolves by increasing fluids, it is known that the Yin-deficiency heat is resolved; once essence and fluids are nourished, bitter-cold herbs will not cause dryness. Palpating the pulse, the left hand is already fine and soft; use Qingzao Tang (Clear Dryness Decoction).

Again, increase fluids to support expulsion of pathogens, open the Lungs, assist emergence to the exterior for complete resolution.
