Jiang (Right) The physique is emaciated, belonging to a constitution of Yin deficiency with abundant fire. During the season when spring Qi ascends, syncope occurred suddenly; at that time, the spirit was confused and disoriented, awakening only after a short while. In the previous consultation, the pulse was wiry and slightly slippery. This is because the annual influence was governed by Ministerial Fire and Wind-Wood, and it was also the time of mid-spring when Yang Qi ascends and dissipates. A person with Yin deficiency cannot tolerate the ascending and dispersing nature of this season, causing the Yang Qi of the Liver to surge upward momentarily, thus resulting in sudden syncope. The plan for regulation is solely to tonify Yin Qi, enabling it to nourish and anchor Liver-Wood, combined with shell and scale substances to subdue and store Yang Qi.

The above herbs are decocted according to standard methods to obtain a thick liquid, filtered. The dregs are boiled again in water, dry residues removed, retaining only the thick liquid. It is reduced to a paste over charcoal fire, stored in porcelain vessels. Take one spoonful every morning, dissolved in boiling water.
Wang (Left) Laborious strain has injured Middle Qi. Fire carries blood upwards, causing blood to overflow from above, resulting in hematemesis or epistaxis amounting to a cup. Treatment focuses on clearing Stomach Qi, harmonizing Ying (Nutritive) Blood, and descending Fire; blood returns to its vessels and bleeding stops. However, upon any exertion, red streaks reappear. This indicates that the collaterals are not yet firm and Middle Qi has not recovered; thus, once Fire stirs, blood follows. The proposal is to tonify Middle Qi, clear the Lungs, and tonify Kidney Water. When Middle Qi is sufficient, Fire cannot invade; when Lung Qi is clear, Wood does not move recklessly; when Kidney Water is sufficient, Fire is restrained.

The above herbs are decocted together to obtain a thick liquid for making paste. Take one measuring spoon every morning.
Bi (Right) Burning sensation in the throat has persisted for a long time, gradually progressing to dizziness and vertigo, and in severe cases, loss of consciousness, recovering after a moment. The pulse is fine, wiry on the left. This is due to simultaneous deficiency of Liver and Kidney, with all rebellious Yang rising upwards. It is appropriate to nourish Yin to extinguish and calm Liver Yang.

The above herbs are decocted together to obtain a thick liquid. Genuine E Jiao is melted and added to make paste. Take one measuring spoon daily, dissolved in boiling water.
Zhang (Right) Dispersing Liver Wood, tonifying Liver Yin, body heat recedes gradually. The Liver is a rigid organ, requiring Blood to moisten it; when Blood is abundant, skin becomes lustrous and hair grows. However, the constitution is prone to dampness, so it is inappropriate to use purely cloying tonics.

The above herbs are decocted together to obtain a thick liquid. Add a little white honey to make paste.
Sun (Right) Leukorrhea has persisted for a long time without stopping. Fluids are consumed, Yang rises. Dizziness and vertigo occur. Liver and Kidney are empty and deficient. Knees and legs feel sore. The Dai Mai (Belt Vessel) surrounds the body like a belt, serving as the constraint for the whole body. When the Dai Mai is damaged, dampness from Spleen and Stomach seeps out, and lipid fluids are consumed. It is appropriate to tonify Middle Qi and simultaneously secure Spleen and Kidney.
Zhi Mian Huang Qi (Prepared Astragali Membranacei Radix, 3 liang), Zhi Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, 5 liang), Tu Si Zi (Cuscutae Semen, 3 liang salt-water stir-fried), Po Gu Zhi (Psoraleae Fructus, 2 liang salt-water stir-fried), Xi Dang Shen (Codonopsis Pilosula, 4 liang), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood, 2 liang), Mu Li (Oyster Shell, 4 liang), Ye Yu Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 2 liang stir-fried), Nong Du Zhong (Eucommiae Cortex, 3 liang), Zhi Shou Wu (Prepared Polygoni Multiflori Radix, 4 liang), Tong Sha Yuan (Astragali Complanati Semen, 3 liang salt-water stir-fried), Dou Yi (Soybean Testa, 3 liang), Chao Shan Yao (Stir-fried Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 2 liang), Bai Gui Shen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 2 liang wine-stir-fried), Jiu Chao Hang Bai Shao (White Peony Root from Hangzhou, wine-stir-fried 2 liang), Jin Mao Ji (Cibotii Rhizoma, de-haired and cut, 4 liang), Chao Qi Zi (Stir-fried Lycii Fructus, 3 liang), Fa Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 2 liang), Chuan Chuan Duan Rou (Stir-fried Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Caulis, 3 liang), Tu Chao Xin Hui Pi (Xinhui Tangerine Peel, earth-stir-fried, 1 liang), Chao Ju Hua (Stir-fried Chrysanthemi Flos, 1.5 qian).
Decoct together to obtain a thick liquid. Dissolve genuine E Jiao (3 liang) into it to make paste.
Bao (Left) Frequent seminal emissions have persisted for years without cure. After each emission, appetite increases; when temporarily stopped, appetite decreases. The transformation and transportation of Spleen and Stomach originally rely on the steaming and changing power of Ming Men Fire for intake and output. Due to Kidney Water deficiency, the Yang within Kan (Kidney) cannot be submerged and stored. It is proposed to use shell substances to subdue Yang.
Sheng Di Tan (Charred Scrophulariae Radix, 3 liang), Chao Ji Tou Zi (Euryales Semen, 2 liang), Jiu Chao Nu Zhen Zi (Ligustri Lucidi Fructus, 2 liang wine-stir-fried), Yuan Mi Chao Xi Dang Shen (Codonopsis Pilosula, 3 liang stir-fried with Yuan Mi), Shu Di Tan (Charred Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, 4 liang), Han Lian Cao (Ecliptae Herba, 2 liang), Chao Shan Yao (Stir-fried Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 2 liang), Zhu Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood, 3 liang), Long Gu (Fossilized Bones, 3 liang), Mu Li (Oyster Shell, 4 liang salt-water), Tong Sha Yuan (Astragali Complanati Semen, 2 liang), Chao Yu Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 1.5 qian stir-fried), Jin Se Lian Xu (Golden Lotus Stamens, 6 qian), Gui Jia Xin (Heart of Tortoise Shell, scraped white and preheated, 8 liang), Bai Zi Ren (Biota Seed, 2 liang not ground), Yuan Zhi Rou (Polygalae Radix, 7 qian), Da Dan Cai (Mytilus Edulis, 3 liang).
The above herbs are decocted to obtain juice for making paste.
Zhang (Right) Generally, pill and paste formulas are often compiled by worldly practitioners using top-grade tonics. However, the key to this case lies entirely in the menstrual period being delayed and the color being pale. Medication should focus specifically on this aspect. Following the method of Mr. Shi Wen (Huang Yuanyu).
Da Shu Di Huang (Large Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, 10 liang), Shang Dang Shen (Codonopsis Pilosula, 3 liang), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 5 qian), Chao Qi Zi (Stir-fried Lycii Fructus, 2 liang), Cu Zhi Ai Ye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium, vinegar-preheated, 3 qian), Quan Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 3 liang), Bie Zhi Shen (Korean Ginseng, 1 liang separately decocted and added), Guang Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 1 liang), Hang Bai Shao (White Peony Root from Hangzhou, wine-stir-fried 1.5 qian), Fu Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 1.2 qian), Ye Yu Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 2 liang), Tong Sha Yuan (Astragali Complanati Semen, 2 liang salt-water stir-fried), Chuan Duan Rou (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Caulis, 2 liang), Zhi Mian Huang Qi (Prepared Astragali Membranacei Radix, 2 liang), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood, 2 liang), Zhi Xiang Fu (Cyperi Rhizoma, 2 liang crushed).
Decoct together to obtain a thick liquid. Add 4 liang of white rock sugar to make paste. Take 3-4 qian every morning.
Qin (Left) Yin deficiency fails to control Wood. Wood exuberance transforms into Wind. Wind obstructs Yang collaterals, causing intermittent headache. The nature of Wind is turbulent, causing palpitations. At the age of youth, a time of growth and development, how could Yin deficiency cause disease? It is because Yang Qi fills day by day. In a body with congenital insufficiency, Yin cannot coordinate with Yang. Under mutual balance, the parts that cannot match manifest as relative deficiency. It is appropriate to strengthen the Master of Water (Kidney Yin) to coordinate with Sunlight (Liver Yang).

Bao (Left) Asthma and cough since childhood, caused by Wind-Cold invading the Lungs, with phlegm stagnating in Lung collaterals. Thus, it lies dormant for years seeming cured, but recurs annually without healing. Now it worsens daily. Suddenly choking cough occurs during deep sleep, waking the patient, followed by frequent coughing. The expectorated phlegm is not much. The pathogenic factors invading the Lung are Wind and Cold. Phlegm is a tangible, sticky substance. If chronic cough were due to accumulated phlegm, why would phlegm generate when closing eyes to sleep? Where does phlegm go during the day? Thus we know: Yang entering Yin causes sleep; Yin emerging to Yang causes waking. Chronic cough damages Lung; illness prevents generation of Water. Water deficiency fails to contain Yang, causing Yang to rebel instead of descending, shooting towards Taiyin (Lung), truly damaging the root origin. It is proposed to nourish Yin to coordinate Yang, preventing Lung Metal from being offended, hoping its descending function can proceed.

Xu (Left) Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) runs anteriorly, Du Mai (Governing Vessel) runs posteriorly. The Du Mai supervises and protects Qi, Blood, and collaterals. A convex turtle back indicates congenital endowment deficiency. Knee caps ache and hurt occasionally, indicating severe emptiness and deficiency of Liver and Kidney. Mental fatigue and lack of energy, sometimes feeling cold and hot, is indeed appropriate. Treatment should greatly tonify Liver and Kidney and supplement the Eight Extraordinary Vessels.

Zhang (Right) Advanced age with dual deficiency of Qi and Blood. Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi cannot circulate freely. Pulling sensations in meridians throughout the body, limbs unable to move. The abdomen belongs to Extreme Yin. Deficiency of Zang Yin leads to disharmony of Zang collaterals. The mechanism of movement cannot turn flexibly. Abdomen is often cramped. Lower deficiency fails to grasp. Chong Yang Qi rebels upward. Phlegm-fluids rise and rebel. Panting and excessive phlegm occur simultaneously. Ying Qi does not flow, Empty Wind moves spontaneously. Qi can be tonified, Blood can be nourished, collaterals can be unblocked, phlegm-fluids can be transformed. Alas, at the age of seventy, Qi and Blood are deficient and do not grow. One can only follow principles and laws, doing what must be done.

Wang (Left) Kidney is Yin, governing storage of Essence. Liver is Yang, governing dispersion. Thus, Kidney Yin deficiency leads to Essence not being stored; Liver Yang excess leads to Qi not being secured. What is called "Yang Excess" refers to the strong Ministerial Fire residing in the Liver. When Yi Wood (Liver) Yang does not submerge, Jia Wood (Gallbladder) Yang floats and pulls. Fear and terror ensue, even seminal emissions. Administering Ziyin Bawei (Yin-Nourishing Eight-Ingredient Pill) stabilized the major trend of the disease, as latent heat within Yin was drained. Although various symptoms subsided, seminal emissions recur every few days, always accompanied by dreams. This is because during the peak of illness, Liver Yang and Ministerial Fire sucked inward, causing Kidney Yin deficiency and True Water failing to ascend, Heart Qi deficiency and Heart Yang sinking downward. Yang naturally tends upward, should be made to descend. Yin naturally tends downward, should be made to ascend. Now Yang sinks and Yin does not ascend, causing Yang unable to gather and Yin unable to secure. Seminal emissions largely result from this. It is proposed to tonify Qi to gather Heart Yang, and strengthen Water to raise Kidney Yin. Please correct if necessary.

Pei (Right) Frequent childbirth leads to deficiency of Ying Blood. Wood loses nourishment, Yang Qi floats and ascends. In summer, when Yang Qi dissipates, head distension, vertigo, and chest fullness often occur. If it were Sha Zhang (Poison Swelling), there would be no reason for sudden onset. The reason for recurrent attacks is also the rebellion of Yang Qi upwards. Now, postpartum, Ying Qi is even more deficient. Wood-Fire in the lower intestine erupts upwards. Chest fullness, dizziness, sweating, burning hands and feet, sore throat, and hoarseness occur. Both Shaoyin and Shaoyang meridians traverse the throat. Nourishing Yin to contain Yang Qi is an unchangeable principle. However, herbs that drain Shaoyang Clear Heat cannot be included in paste formulas. It is advisable to take decoctions separately.

Liu (Left) Lung is the Canopy, located superiorly, its Qi governs descending. Kidney governs sealing and storing, located inferiorly, its Water should ascend. Thus, ascending and descending depend on each other. Lung and Kidney communicate, ensuring even respiration. Stomach is the central pivot, the leader of the Twelve Meridians. It binds sinews and bones, facilitating joints. Spleen weakness and dampness encumbrance make Stomach a reservoir. Excessive dampness in the Middle Jiao obstructs Lung descent. This is the subtle principle behind cough triggered by slight contact. Stomach dampness accumulation leads to Stomach Qi disharmony. Stomach disease leads to joint and collateral disharmony, causing body pain. Dampness does not generate itself; it arises when Spleen fails to transform and transport. Spleen does not transport itself; it moves when Qi mechanism stimulates. Thus, the pathogenic factor is Dampness, the generator of Dampness is Spleen, and the cause of Spleen's failure to transport and generate Dampness is Qi. Wu Yiluo said: When Spleen is healthy and transporting, Dampness removes itself. Also: When Qi is vigorous, Phlegm moves and Water dissipates. Truly these words! It is proposed to primarily tonify Qi and transport Dampness. However, regulatory formulas should naturally consider Liver and Kidney, selecting non-cloying herbs for administration, which would be proper.
