Spleen and Stomach are exteriorly-interiorly related. The Stomach is the sea of water and grain, primarily responsible for receiving and storing food and drink; the Spleen governs transformation and transportation, responsible for grinding and digesting food, thereby distributing essence and fluids to all internal organs. Currently, due to insufficiency of the Spleen organ and weakness of Stomach Qi internally, one cannot eat. Even if food is consumed, it cannot be digested and transformed. If the Chi pulse (pulse at the wrist) presents as floating, slippery, rapid, and hurried, it indicates food stagnation and lack of Spleen transformation capacity.
