Note: This herb has traditionally been an essential item for resolving the exterior in Shanghan and also treats malaria. Whether it can kill malaria parasites with specific efficacy like Changshan (Polygalae Radix) remains to be proven. However, for various heat toxins in the head, this herb is indispensable for rapid effect. Even for early-stage osteomyelitis of the jaw (bone groove wind) before suppuration, heavy use of Chaihu assisted by Cistanche Deserticola (Rongrongsu), Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Shengdi), Scrophulariae Radix (Xuanshen), and Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin) can eliminate it in two or three doses. It truly possesses divine power.
