Utilize acrid-cold herbs to resolve and disperse depressed heat, following the *Neijing* principle that diseases occurring after Summer Solstice are treated as heat-stroke.
Qiaoliao (Forsythiae Fructus), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus), Lugeng (Phragmitis Rhizoma), Niubang (Arctii Fructus), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Ziwan (Asteris Radix), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis).

The disease erupts due to sudden cold exposure, with miasma-rashes not venting on the muscle surface and head/face; this is external accumulation of cold and internal latent heat. The Lung governs Wei Qi (Defensive Qi), which belongs to the Qi level; both exterior and interior must be resolved simultaneously using: Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), Niubang (Arctii Fructus), Shegan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Sheng Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Prepared), Zhike Juice (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride Juice).

Sudden cold externally added, internal latent heat becomes more blazing; pathogen depression causes Qi and Blood stagnation, preventing miasma-rashes from venting outward. Phlegm and Qi obstruct each other, consciousness is clouded, panting and urgency increase, gradually entering the Pericardium, showing signs of internal closure and external collapse.

Warm miasma-rashes result from inhaling turbid qi through mouth and nose, belonging to formless pathogens blocking the upper orifices, causing choking and inability to swallow food. Physicians unaware of the distinction between form and formless merely prescribe clearing fire and descending cold; medicines enter the intestines and stomach directly, having no effect on the throat.

Between Spring and Summer, skin lesions appear like scabies, starting from the Lower Jiao (Lower Burner) and spreading to limbs; this is congenital residual heat latent in the Yin levels, erupting upon the ascending influence of Heaven and Earth qi. Although symptoms gradually subside, eradication is difficult because Yin fluids are hard to generate and easy to damage; desires and emotions contradict True Yin.

Between bone joints, tinea and psoriasis persist for years, painful and itchy with fluid discharge; external applications fail, nodules form in creases, accompanied by frequent belching and dry vomiting, sensation of obstruction when swallowing; during menstruation, leukorrhea occurs. This is long-standing damp-heat in the Yangming meridians, infiltrating over time leading to worm erosion. External treatment clears heat, removes dampness, and kills parasites; internal medication primarily harmonizes Qi and Blood, assisted by bitter-acrid herbs to unblock meridians, allowing Qi and Blood circulation, combining internal and external treatments.

Big wind leprosy, whole body skin sheds like bran, nightly hot flashes, daytime chills and tremors; wind-toxin spreads through Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) levels, circulating nowhere, burning Qi and Blood, penetrating viscera, a critical surgical condition. I am not a surgeon, only reading ancient formularies, recommending Zui Xian San (Intoxicating Immortal Powder) as primary; examining its properties, using toxin to drive out toxin, fearing dental damage. This condition starts in Autumn, worsens in Winter, rarely recurs in warm Spring and summer, not a lingering ailment, not manageable by standard rules. Temporarily follow Luo’s Jiji Jiedu Tang (Complete Decoction for Resolving Toxin) with Korean Ginseng powder.

Since abscess ulcerated and pus drained, lying in bed with unsmooth Qi mechanism, excessive intake of rich foods causes Stomach congestion generating heat, leading to sweet taste in mouth, poor appetite. Since fluid dispersion is not phlegm coagulation, acrid-dry and draining herbs are moving agents; emptiness arises suddenly, seeking food, Yang movement generates consumption. Self-reported fire rising from lower to vertex, illness coming swiftly like wind and thunder, matches Zhang Zhongjing’s description of Jueyin heart heat like hunger. Thus, Jueyang shaking generates internal wind, Liver loses harmony, Stomach receives disease, dry throat and withered tongue also indicate Jueyin consumption. Here Liver is the primary diseased Zang organ, Stomach is the affected Fu organ; ancients said nine orifices disharmony all treat from Stomach. Since clearing and nourishing Stomach Yin requires restraining Liver Yang disturbance, adopt sweet-acid method to generate Yin.

After ulcer rupture, greasy tonification causes Stomach Yang stagnation, plus summer-heat and dampness steaming from mouth/nose via middle pathway, Stomach becomes more disharmonious, with retching and diarrhea. Ancients said orifice diseases are Stomach diseases, but Stomach is Yang Fu, avoid acrid-dry. Long bedridden, Spleen trapped and transport difficult, mild tonification assisted by draining is suitable, avoid Qi stagnation.

Ulcer not healed, frequent tonification instead causes daily alternating chills and fever, food intake decreases, shape and spirit deteriorate. Recent intense heat causes epistaxis, thirst, crimson tongue, numbness of flesh and pores. Constitutionally deficient mixed with summer-heat, fear fluid exhaustion and fainting, propose Fumai Tang (Restore Pulse Decoction).
Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen), Baiziren (Biotae Semen), Yangsheng [Note: Likely typo for Shudi or similar, literal translation], Qi and Blood chaotic, forming abscess. Since pus drainage, advancing Renshen [missing character] internal support to boost Qi and generate flesh is correct treatment, but upper two Jiao tonification makes Yang rise more, Liver Wood shakes, burns sinews and collaterals, causing hemiplegia and numbness. Face shiny oil, chronic loose stools, alcoholic patient with deficiency-middle, dampness cannot accept sweet-greasy-warm-tonic, propose bitter-descending to harmonize Yang, assist with extinguishing wind. Daily regulation methods to be reconsidered.

Elderly with sparse exterior, wind-toxin invades Yang positions, occupying and blocking tunnels, forming abscess, Middle and Lower Jiao trapped. Now fluid exhausted, difficult defecation, loss of taste, reduced food, internal wind intensifying, past mid-Spring, fear added illness, suitable for moistening tonification.

Pulse left pulsates large, right slow. Summer/Autumn heat qi enters mouth/nose, distributes via meridians from Membrane Source (Mo Yuan); at this time grain/fish/grease aids heat gathering dampness, damp excess causes swelling, heat burning causes pain. Affected right pulse and left severely, illness long pathogen deep entering Blood level. Classic says: Yangming meridian binds sinews/bones to benefit joints. Now restless pain worse at night, constipation uncomfortable, thirst drinking, ancients said nine orifices disharmony all belong to Stomach disease. Grain/Water qi steams internally, Summer-Dampness insults externally, internal/external clash, bi-blockage not smooth, consider bitter-acrid-cold to ventilate, follow Hejian method.

Summer/Autumn internal latent summer-dampness, all Yin evil long sores, gradually causing post-meal fullness. Form cold pulse small, should warm middle awaken Yang, do not use cooling to treat sores.

Lesion heat steaming pain/itch, meridian Qi/Blood not flowing. But aftermath of carbuncle/ulcer, light toxin is sore, heavy extends to flowing injection. Clearing/resolving is appropriate, but Stomach weak little eating, bitter-cold should be cautious, moreover sores above sitting level, Qi level depression must be investigated.
