[Discussion on Heat Pathogen Transmitting Interior Causing Macules] Heat pathogen transmits interior, interior excess and exterior deficiency, blood heat not dispersing, heat qi entering through deficiency and emerging in skin as macules. Light cases resemble rashes, heavy cases resemble brocade patterns. Severe cases show mottled skin. Or originally Yang syndrome, mistakenly given heat drugs, or should have sweated but didn't, should have purged but didn't, or purged but unresolved, all can cause this. Do not induce sweating; forcing open pores will worsen mottling. If spontaneous diarrhea, oppression, shortness of breath, dry feces blocked, black macules, prognosis is poor. Any case where sweating/purging fails, deafness, cold feet, irritability, cough, vomiting, indicates macule eruption.
